Giving up a little to give others a lot
A 40-day abstinence and generosity challenge. Give something up, take something on, and turn what you save into support for people who need hope most.
If life is in danger, call Triple Zero (000). For 24/7 crisis support, call 13 11 14.
Give something up. Take something on. Make a difference.
Rooted in the tradition of Lent, Lent Together invites individuals, churches, families and workplaces into a simple but powerful rhythm. Whatever you save, learn or gain over the 40 days becomes an opportunity to offer hope to someone else.
Mindful abstinence
Choosing to let go of a comfort, a habit or a distraction creates space for clarity and renewal.
Positive habits
Taking on daily practices of gratitude, prayer, movement or kindness enriches both you and the people around you.
Compassion in action
Your 40 days become a lifeline for someone else. Each contribution helps make sure no-one faces their darkest moments alone.
How it works
- Choose one thing to give up: coffee, alcohol, sugar, takeaway, scrolling.
- Adopt one positive habit: gratitude, prayer, walking, journalling.
- Donate what you save, or ask family and friends to sponsor your 40-day commitment.
- Follow the daily 40-day plan of reflection and action, which we provide.

When is it on?
The 2027 dates are still to be confirmed. Lent Together runs across the 40 days of Lent, and we will post the dates here as soon as they are set.
To hear about it first, call us on (02) 6581 2800 or send us a message.
Bring your church or workplace
Lent Together works best as a group. A church, a workplace, a school or a family can take it on together, everyone choosing their own practice, all giving to the same cause.
If you would like to bring a group along, or want help getting people started, email business@lifelinemidcoast.org.au and we will talk it through.
Where what you give goes
Every dollar goes to Lifeline Mid Coast, the crisis line, the bereavement and recovery groups, and the training that keeps them running across our region.
